Advertising : Unit 30

Advertising is the activity or profession of producing advertisement for commercial products or services. They are different forms of advertising which are signs which are big bold that advertise diner restaurants so you are aware they are there; having employees stand in public places with posters/billboards; using vehicles mostly buses to advertise products seeing as buses are big which makes them eye-catching seeing as they are popular use for the media and they are more such as wall paintings, billboards, mobile phones screen, printed flyers, radio, cinema, television, shopping carts l, web banners, web pops and more. Adverts have three basic characteristics which are, marketing(key concept), promotional content and promotional media.

USP stands for Unique Selling Point.
For example, watching the l'oreal advert they're unique selling point is "cause you're worth it".

Advertisers use a variety of techniques to get us to buy goods or services.
Some of the techniques they use is flattering words to make their targets audience feel confident in buying their products for example l'oreal slogan "cause your worth it" makes their audience feel involved with the celebrity so they will confident in buying the product they feel inspired by the slogan.
A celebrity endorsement when they use celebrities to help enhance their product, for example, the Venus advert they use Jennifer Lopez because she is seen as a idol to many females, using her would make their target audience want to buy the product more because viewers will believe in the product more seeing as Lopez has nice legs.
Expert endorsement or statistical proof is when you have an advert and the person in the advert is specialised in that area of the product for example, ford adverts the endorser would be targeted towards engineers because they specialise in knowing how to make and fix cars; however, a car sell man may not find it useful because he doesn't fix cars.

Target audience is a key consideration in making an advert. Seeing as not all products which have been made are suitable for all ages, demographic, gender and more.
For example, the durex advert is mostly aimed at people who are in class E because they used mostly teenagers mixed genders targeting teenagers about buying their product because it is easier to get messages across to teenagers by using people of their age ranges. Also, teenagers are seen as more sexually attractive.
Another example, Venus advert mostly targeted at females because we often care about how we look especially our legs because of our clothing; most female clothing have been made to reveal legs and arms which makes woman feel insecure, the advert targeted a personal issue females have. It has not been class targeted because females of all classes can access the product due to the price . They used Jennifer Lopez because people of all class look up to her because of her age and how she manages to maintain nice legs etc.
